  216. \fBJcopy\fP is volume-to-volume utility for the Jaquith system.
  217.

  219. Jcopy copies one Jaquith volume to another, in its entirety.
  220. The assumption is that the source tape is growing old and
  221. that the data is being rolled forward to a new tape.
  222. Therefore, Jcopy attempts to keep Jaquith's view of the world
  223. up-to-date by editing various configuration files.  The
  224. user is prompted about these changes at the appropriate time.

  227. Omitting the \fB-destvol\fR option entirely will cause jcopy to
  228. obtain a volume from Jaquith's free volume list.

  231. Jcopy negotiates with jmgr to mount the volumes. This means that
  232. jcopy can run while the system is publicly available.

  235. Jcopy does not connect to the public port managed by the Jaquith
  236. process to discourage its use as a client program. This is
  237. because Jcopy makes no attempt to obtain the two devices atomically.
  238. Therefore it's possible for two jcopy processes to deadlock, each
  239. holding 1 device and unable to get the other.
